14 - Halfway Reflection
1) Tenaciousness is a competency. What are the behaviors that you have used (or developed) to keep up with the requirements of this course?
I have established routines for when I will do my work, and I always put schoolwork into my schedule before anything else. I also find it helpful to just go somewhere where there are no distractions, like the library, and knock out what I need to get done.
2) Tenaciousness is also about attitude. Talk about a moment or two when you felt like "giving up." What pulled you through? Do you feel like you've developed a tenacious attitude during the past two months? What experience or experiences most contributed to this?
I do feel like I've developed a tenacious attitude during the past couple of months. I feel like the biggest reason for this has been establishing more of a routine and waking up earlier and accomplishing something early on in the day, because this helps keep me motivated throughout the rest of the day. I also signed up for a half marathon last month so I've been training for that and there have been plenty of times where I felt like "giving up." When this happens I just remind myself that I have a goal to accomplish and I have to train to get there so I just make myself get it done. I think a big component of tenaciousness is having clearly defined goals for yourself that will motivate you to keep going.
3) Three tips. What are three tips you would offer next semester's student about (1) fostering the skills that support tenacity and (2) developing the 'tenacious mindset' ?
1. Get excited to take on challenges
2. Visualize your goal
3. Enjoy the process & learn to love learning
Hi Jesse,
ReplyDeleteI thought your reflection was really good. I also established a routine where I put my schoolwork before anything else. I think it is a great mindset to have and I think it definitely helps you achieve your academic goals. I think that it is really cool you are doing a half marathon. I one hundred percent agree that defined goals are the best way to keep yourself going. The three tips that you offered are also really good. When learn to love learning, you get so much more out of the assignments.
Hey,
ReplyDeleteI strongly agree with you on organization being pertinent for success. You spoke about the struggles you have with training for a marathon and that can really be a daunting task for some, its great to see that you haven't given up yet and keep training in order to one day be able to run those 13 miles like it was breakfast.
