25 - What's Next?
Existing Market.
I think the next services in store for my venture are quick grocery delivery. Once users select the meals they want to make and their grocery list is generated, they can select to have them delivered to their home. Also, since I would like to offer the option for people to input groceries they already have and the groceries that are bought will be tracked on the app, the app could alert the user when groceries are going to expire soon.
The customers that I interviewed suggested offering specific meal planning services for people who wanted that rather than selecting their own meals, and to also offer a meal basket service. They also suggested having a type of automatic checkout on the app like the amazon grocery store concept, where items placed in the cart will be recorded and the shopper can walk out of the store with everything being paid on the app.
I think it would definitely make sense to partner with grocery stores in the future to offer things like delivery and instantly paying for groceries, once the technology allows for that.
New Market.
A different market that I could target is people who are poor and don't care as much about meal planning, just the money saving aspect of the app. I could still have options of meals to choose from, but the app would have mainly very cheap and budget friendly meals. It would show the total cost of each meal and it would also compare the grocery prices from each store and find all available coupons so that the user can get maximum discounts.
The people I interviewed said that I should have a section that shows all of the best deals/coupons in the grocery stores near them that week, and to possibly give budgeting tips.
I feel like this idea could be successful in this new market, but I think there are also already businesses out there that offer a similar thing. It does not offer the wide scope that I would like to.

ReplyDeleteOne of the hardest things to do as an innovator is to imagine not only the market you want to serve, but to go above and beyond to see what else lies out there. What is so cool about the "New Market" portion of this post is that we are required to think outside the box in order to visualize who else we can serve. You did a great job in that regard.

ReplyDeleteI really like your product that you have been working on. I think partnering with grocery stores in the future is a good idea. It would make it easier to put on the app all of the discounts and special deals that they may be having a certain week. I also think that this app would be a very good thing for the new market you identified. Good job!
Hi Jesse, these are some great ideas to continue this venture with. I especially like your idea of having the groceries delivered to the users. This would be a great opportunity with networking with local food producers as well. If people can get ingredients for meals fresh from where they live, that would benefit all the parties involved.

ReplyDeleteI think this is a great idea, in today's day and age we are constantly trying to optimize efficiency in order to fit our day with more activities and responsibilities, and with your venture idea we would be a lot closer to that goal. I think this is a great concept that with the proper oversight and leadership can turn into a big business.
