The company called Driven Ziggy LLC has plans to build a condo in St. Petersburg, however, despite the fact that the building follows all regulations, the plan was overturned in a vote. The company sued St. Pete on account that their company will be harmed if they cannot build the condo. The problem is that if Driven Ziggy isn't able to construct their building so they are going to lose a lot of money if they can't.
2. Internet buying is killing the malls, reminding some shoppers that malls killed the downtowns
https://www.tampabay.com/hillsborough/internet-buying-is-killing-the-malls-reminding-some-shoppers-that-malls-killed-the-downtowns-20190125/
This article is about the fact that shopping malls now are becoming increasingly obsolete. It describes the way things were a few decades back and contrasts it with how things have become, especially the fact that internet shopping is taking over. Shoppers used to prefer shopping at individual shops downtown, then shopping malls took over, and now the internet is the most common way to shop.
The problem presented is that stores are increasingly moving to online platforms rather than online; shopping malls have this problem.
3. Here’s how to recycle your Gasparilla 2019 beads in Tampa
https://www.tampabay.com/previous/things-to-do/heres-how-to-recycle-your-gasparilla-2019-beads-in-tampa-20190123/
People attending Gasparilla this year are going to obtain millions of strands of beads collectively, and many people have no idea what to do with them after. The article states that people can drop off their beads at Krispy Kreme and get free donuts too, or people can bring beads to the Florida Aquarium for discounts there.
The problem is that people have beads they don't know what to do with, which can potentially lead to a lot of waste. Anyone who attends Gasparilla or buys beads this year will face this problem.

https://www.tampabay.com/health/a-third-of-gofundme-campaigns-are-for-medical-needs-what-that-says-about-our-system-20190117/
The article says that as GoFundMe has become more popular, people have been making more and more campaigns for paying for their healthcare needs. The problem is that people do not have enough money to pay their medical bills.

Teen vaping has suddenly become a huge epidemic, with millions of young users addicted to nicotine. Government officials have tried to regulate vape products so that less young people can access them but it has not made much of a difference.
We are now faced with the problem of how to lift teens from their nicotine addictions.
Hi Jesse,
ReplyDeleteI did not even know the whole bead thing was an issue. I knew so many people that went this weekend (I didn't because of exams rip me) and I will make sure they drop their beads off to krispy kreme. I wonder if this is a similar issue, if not worse, in Louisiana for Mardi Gras. There is definitely opportunity for clean up programs or recycling initiatives for both!
I genuinely enjoyed your articles because all of them were interesting. I feel that their was so much opportunity to look at the problems you're noticing and what other people are noticing. For instance, the Gasparilla article talking about how to recycle beads. I would have never known that this was a problem , but now that I think about it I don't know where to put them, and they would end up in the trash. Another problem that I thought was interesting was about the vaping. It's interesting to see how a solution to one problem can eventually lead to another. The solution was created to solve the problem of smoking nicotine, but they didn't take into consideration of it becoming a trend. It makes me think of my solutions, and asking questions to make sure I don't create another problem.
ReplyDeleteI believe the overall quality of your assignment is okay. What I liked about your post were the articles you chose. I found them interesting. The article about the beads was my favorite. What you could improve on in the future is formatting and level of detail. Your formatting was difficult to follow for me. Try using tools like bold, italics, and subheadings. I feel as though you could have gone into a bit more into detail as well. Try to go into greater detail in future posts.
